The price of the garment mainly depends on the number of threads used while hand embroidering a chikankari garment. Lower the thread count, the higher the price of embroidery would go.The word ‘Chikan’ is basically derived from Persian word ‘Chikeen’. In earlier days traditionally Chikankari Embroidery was done on mulmul – fine muslin cotton.

Real Chikankari will show a slightly messy reverse side of the fabric, show casing the hand – embroidered threads and knots, Chikankari mainly has 32 stiches.
